Which Lab Tests Do I Need For My Chronic Issues? Merritt Wellness Method

Lab Test Information

As a functional medicine practice, we oftentimes see patients that just feel “not quite right” – where there is no one dominant symptom that can point us in the right direction. Examples can range from chronic bloating, unexplained headaches or migraines, chronic fatigue, insomnia, to any number of vague symptoms.

Beyond exploring possible lifestyle factors to identify the root cause of chronic dis-ease or wellness challenges, we frequently use advanced functional medicine lab testing that provide valuable information about health at the cellular level.

The test results help guide our treatment recommendations in major ways – allowing us to craft an approach unique to your situation, genetics, and biochemistry.

Below are a few of our many lab test options – we will assess which lab tests are best for you based on your individual needs:

Principle Labs Blood Test

This is Principle Labs’ most comprehensive panel, encompassing numerous markers to help evaluate the health status of your patient. The following is a list of key areas covered in this panel:

  • Blood sugar analysis
  • Cardiovascular analysis
  • Infection analysis
  • Electrolyte analysis
  • Anemia analysis
  • Thyroid analysis
  • Lipid analysis
  • Liver & Biliary analysis
  • Urinalysis

The thyroid section in this panel is carefully selected to reveal certain essential mechanisms that may be important for proper thyroid hormone synthesis and function. This unique panel gives an unprecedented perspective to the various biosystems with expanded markers pertaining to thyroid physiology.

Total Markers Analyzed: 67 Biomarkers + 13 items evaluated in Urinalysis

Evexia Hormone and Organic Acid Test

The Comprehensive Saliva Hormone Test is a very informative test for anyone who suspects they might have a hormone problem. The test is done four times in a day, and  then used to provide a complete hormone panel, including metabolites, effectively replacing multiple testing methods. It includes a test on the cortisol levels  and sex hormones.

The organic acids are metabolic intermediates produced in pathways of central energy production, detoxification, neurotransmitter breakdown, and intestinal microbial activity. Accumulation of specific organic acids in urine often signals a metabolic inhibition or block. This abnormality may be due to a nutrient deficiency, an inherited enzyme deficit, toxic build-up, or drug effect. An organic acids urine test helps reveal activity and changes at the metabolic level, helping practitioners discover hidden issues and pinpoint where therapeutic focus is needed.

ZRT Weight Management and CardioMetabolic Test

The Weight Management Profile identifies hormonal imbalances that contribute to obesity, weight gain and difficulty losing or sustaining a healthy weight. Used as a screening tool, the profile also serves as a powerful early indicator of insulin resistance and risks for metabolic syndrome and diabetes.

Weight Management Profile Tests: E2, Pg, T, DS, Cx4 (saliva); TSH, Vitamin D2/D3, Insulin, HbA1c (blood spot)

Thyroid Add-On Tests: fT3, fT4, TPOab (blood spot)

CardioMetabolic Profile allows early detection of major indicators associated with metabolic/insulin resistance syndrome. Used as a screening profile this can help clinicians make the most appropriate treatment recommendations to reduce the overall risk of type 2 diabetes and CVD. Regular testing can also be used for risk assessment and monitoring. Screening, along with clinical assessment, can be of reliable predictive value for determining overall cardiometabolic risk.

CardioMetabolic Profile Tests: Insulin, hsCRP, HbA1c, TG, CH, HDL, LDL, VLDL (blood spot)

Great Plains Toxicity Tests

Great Plains Heavy Metals Test – can check metal levels in hair, blood, urine and fecal matter, using samples appropriate for each specific situation. Metals testing is important for measuring toxic metals that can impede development and normal brain functioning, as well as measuring levels of minerals essential for normal growth and good health.

Great Plains Mycotoxin Exposure Mold Urine Test – screens for 11 different mycotoxins, from 40 species of mold, in one urine sample.

Great Plains GPL-TOX Profile (Toxic Non-Metal Chemicals) – screens for 173 different environmental pollutants using 18 different metabolites, all from a single urine sample.
